10DLC registration for local numbers
10DLC registration is how US carriers approve business texting from local numbers: you register your brand (the business) and each campaign (what you send and how people opt in) with The Campaign Registry, and the carriers assign throughput and pass-through fees. Kall8 submits both from the portal; approval usually takes a few business days and texting is enabled on approval.
Brand registration
Your legal business name, EIN, address, website and a contact. Sole proprietors can register without an EIN at lower throughput. The registry checks the details against public records; mismatches (a trading name instead of the legal name is the usual one) are the main cause of delay.
Campaign registration
One campaign per use case: customer care, appointment reminders, delivery notifications, marketing. Each needs a description, sample messages with the business name and an opt-out, and the opt-in method. Mixed use cases are allowed but vetted more carefully.
Timelines
- Brand: immediate to a few days.
- Campaign: a few business days for carrier review.
- Number assignment to the campaign: same day once approved.
What Kall8 handles
- Collecting the details in the portal and filing the brand and campaign with the registry.
- Assigning your numbers to the approved campaign and enabling texting.
- Passing through registry fees at cost, itemized on your invoice.
- Answering carrier queries and resubmitting if a campaign is returned.
What you handle
- Consent: written opt-in for marketing, records kept, STOP honoured immediately. See text message regulations.
- Content within the accepted categories; the restricted list is on the same page.
- A website and privacy policy that mention texting, which reviewers check.
Toll-free numbers use a different, simpler registration: toll-free verification. Choosing between them: toll-free vs local.
